- Bitcoin price reclaimed $80,000 as short liquidations strengthened the recovery momentum.
- Glassnode sees dense short liquidations clustering between $83,000 and $86,000 levels.
- Hawkish Fed policy and regulatory uncertainty could limit sustained breakout momentum.
Bitcoin price climbed above $80,000 on Friday, trading near $80,930 after gaining about 5.5% over 24 hours. BTC reached an intraday high near $81,213, breaking above BTC resistance that capped recent rebounds. Glassnode now identifies a dense liquidation zone between $83,000 and $86,000. Forced short covering could accelerate gains if the market reaches that zone.
Bitcoin Price Faces Dense Liquidations Between $83K and $86K
Glassnode said short positions have accumulated across the liquidation shelf for several weeks. The structure could trigger rapid movement because traders may be forced to close losing positions.

Another threshold sits near $80,421, representing the average acquisition cost of institutional Bitcoin treasury companies. Holding above that level could strengthen the developing recovery.
The next major area near $85,000 reflects a cost basis linked to United States spot Bitcoin ETFs. Bitcoin price must hold above $80,000 before these higher zones become credible near-term targets.
Crypto Patel identified a bullish flag on the eight-hour timeframe. An eight-hour close above $80,000 could confirm the pattern and expose $82,250.
A sustained breakout could later open a route toward $98,000. However, a drop below $75,000 would invalidate the short-term setup and expose $71,000 or $68,000.
Fed Policy and Clarity Act Risks Test the Bitcoin Price Rally
CoinShares research head James Butterfill identified a hawkish Federal Reserve and the Clarity Act setback as major obstacles. Both factors could make a sustained breakout harder despite Friday’s recovery.
The Federal Reserve raised its target range by 25 basis points to 3.75%–4.00% on Wednesday. Policymakers said inflation remains elevated, keeping future decisions dependent on incoming economic data.
Bitcoin price could remain sensitive to inflation releases and changes in interest-rate expectations. Softer inflation or a policy shift may improve conditions for sustained gains.
Butterfill argued regulatory uncertainty may affect Ethereum and other altcoins more heavily. Bitcoin currently carries clearer regulatory treatment than many competing digital assets.
Michaël van de Poppe remains bullish, but further gains require confirmed support above $80,000.
