- Van de Poppe sees a $1.5 trillion–$1.6 trillion market cap target if the weekly chart confirms a recovery.
- His projected 100%–200% gains apply to individual tokens, not the market as a whole.
- A sustained Bitcoin rally could draw trading capital away from smaller tokens, weakening his case.
Altcoins could reach a combined market value of $1.5 trillion to $1.6 trillion over the coming months, according to analyst Michaël van de Poppe. His forecast hinges on where the market finishes the week. After a rally to a new high, the market fell below a recent low. He wants to see it close back above that level.
Why the Weekly Close Matters for Altcoins After the Pullback
Van de Poppe interprets the earlier high as evidence that altcoins have entered a bull market. In his reading, the recent dip could still leave the market above the deeper trough that preceded the rally. That would give him the higher low he wants to see on the weekly chart.

The distinction is between trading below a level during the week and finishing the week there. A close above the recent low would suggest buyers had regained ground by week’s end. A close below it would leave his condition for a rebound unmet. He did not give a dollar value for that threshold in his post.
Van de Poppe also sees room for gains of 100% to 200% in some altcoins. For an individual token, that would mean doubling or tripling in price. His separate $1.5 trillion–$1.6 trillion target refers to market capitalization, which can rise even when many tokens lag.
How a Bitcoin Trading Range Could Give Altcoins Room to Rise
In a separate post about Bitcoin, Van de Poppe said he saw a significant chance that Bitcoin was forming a bottom. He expects smaller tokens to outperform if Bitcoin then trades sideways. Outperformance is relative: a token can gain against Bitcoin without doubling in dollar terms.
Analyst Moustache also views the pullback as consolidation within a bull market. He expects prices to rise after that pause but offered no numerical target or timetable.
Van de Poppe identified one development that could shorten that window: a sustained Bitcoin rally. If traders shift capital back into Bitcoin as its gains accelerate, he expects smaller tokens to lose their relative advantage.
