The Blockchain Association confirmed the transition on Friday as the organization continues its work on cryptocurrency regulation in Washington. Smith will lead the group while keeping her current role as president of the Solana Policy Institute.

The Blockchain Association said Smith will guide the organisation into its next phase after building the group’s leadership structure. Her return comes as the crypto industry continues seeking clearer regulatory frameworks in the United States.
During Mersinger’s leadership, the Blockchain Association supported several major policy efforts, including stablecoin legislation that became law in July 2025. The organization also promoted broader digital asset market rules through efforts such as the Clarity Act.
Mersinger joined the group after serving as a commissioner at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. Her regulatory background helped the association engage with lawmakers and agencies during a significant period for crypto policy.
Blockchain Association Continues Crypto Policy Efforts
