Dogecoin ETF Closure Sets October Exit for Bitwise BWOW HoldersĀ

  • Bitwise expects Dogecoin ETF trading to end October 14, with automatic cash distributions scheduled for October 22.
  • The issuer cites changing investor needs; its reported $9 billion represents firmwide assets, not BWOW holdings.
  • A four-hour technical buy signal contrasts with recent DOGE price declines but does not confirm a recovery.

Bitwise will close its Dogecoin ETF less than a year after its November 2025 launch. The asset manager announced the decision September 10, setting October dates for the final trading session and cash distributions.

BWOW investors can sell before trading ends or await automatic liquidation payments. Bitwise attributes the closure to efforts to align its products with changing investor needs.

Dogecoin ETF Closure Sets October Trading and Payout Dates

October 14 is the expected final trading day for the Dogecoin ETF on NYSE Arca. Shareholders can sell their holdings through the close of that session, after which the fund will cease operations.

Investors who retain shares will receive cash on October 22, based on their holdings’ October 21 net asset value. Bitwise says shareholders need not take action to receive the distribution.

The Dogecoin ETF will also stop creating new shares before markets open on October 15. Bitwise has coordinated the delisting and liquidation with the exchange.

Importantly, the issuer’s reported $9 billion in client assets covers its broader business, rather than BWOW alone. Its announcement does not establish a 40% decline in the fund’s assets.

Modest Fund Flows Contrast With a Short-Term DOGE Signal

Dogecoin ETF demand has attracted comparatively limited capital. According to SoSoValue, cited figures show $11.83 million in combined net assets and $12.09 million in cumulative net inflows. Daily net inflows totalled zero on September 10.

Grayscale’s GDOG leads with $8.61 million in assets and $11.70 million in cumulative net inflows. Meanwhile, 21Shares’ TDOG holds $2.53 million, with cumulative net inflows of $1.63 million.

The Dogecoin ETF figures distinguish BWOW’s outflows from the category’s positive cumulative balance. Bitwise’s separately reported $9 billion represents firmwide client assets, rather than this fund’s holdings.

Meanwhile, DOGE traded near $0.084 in the reporting period accompanying the closure announcement. The Dogecoin ETF shutdown coincides with weakness in the token, without establishing that either caused the other.

Separately, Ali Charts reported a TD Sequential buy signal on the four-hour chart. The analyst cited rebounds of 6.96%, 2.71% and 11.25% following three previous signals. Those historical moves do not confirm another rebound.
