149 million records leaked, including 420,000 Binance login details

  • Leaked Infostealer dataset contains 420,000 Binance login credentials from malware attacks.
  • The leak is due to malware infections on user devices, not a Binance breach.
  • Binance to notify affected users and advise stronger security measures like MFA.

A leaked Infostealer dataset has exposed 420,000 Binance login credentials from malware-infected user devices. The breach was not related to a compromise of the Binance system but stemmed from infections on individual devices. Binance has responded by notifying affected users, resetting passwords, and recommending enhanced security measures like hardware MFA

Binance Login Details Exposed in Malware-Infected Devices

A recent security disclosure by researcher Jeremiah Fowler revealed a leaked Infostealer dataset that contains around 149 million records. Among these records, approximately 420,000 are Binance login credentials, which were extracted from malware-infected user devices. These infections affected a range of online accounts, including those for Gmail, Facebook, Instagram, Netflix, and more.

Experts have emphasized that this incident does not involve a breach of Binance’s own systems but rather points to compromised user-end security. The malware infections on individual devices are responsible for the leaked data. This particular breach has not targeted Binance itself.

Binance Response and User Protection

In response to the leak, Binance has outlined a series of actions to protect its users. The company will actively monitor the dark web for any potential misuse of the exposed login credentials. Additionally, Binance plans to notify affected users and initiate a password reset for any accounts identified in the dataset.

To further safeguard user accounts, Binance is recommending the use of hardware multi-factor authentication (MFA), installing antivirus software, and improving overall account security. These measures are aimed at helping users protect their accounts and reduce the risk of future malware-related breaches.
