DFDV shares closed at $5.28 on August 27, gaining 17.33% after DeFi Development Corp. announced renewed Solana buying. The new purchase added about 19,000 SOL at an average price of $98.14.
The Nasdaq-listed company now holds roughly 2.33 million SOL and equivalents. Proceeds from a ZeroStack divestment partly funded the transaction, while management plans to hold and stake the tokens.
DFDV Expands Solana Treasury With Fresh 19,000 SOL Purchase
Based on the reported price and token count, the acquisition cost approximately $1.86 million. The company disclosed a combined balance of 2,333,432 SOL and equivalents in its August 27 release.
Management plans to deploy the purchased assets through existing staking and onchain treasury operations. The company runs its own validators, earning staking rewards and fees from delegated tokens. Those activities can add tokens to treasury holdings without requiring another market purchase. Rewards do not remove exposure to a falling SOL price.
The latest allocation follows the company’s earlier partnership with ZeroStack, announced in September 2025. The release did not disclose the share of purchase funding supplied by the divestment.
Stock Performance Reflects Leveraged Solana Exposure
CEO Joseph Onorati said DFDV aims to offer amplified exposure to SOL through its listed shares. The company reported month-to-date returns exceeding twice the token’s gain. Quarter-to-date, it put the stock’s relative return at 1.8 times SOL’s.
The company also cited strong trading activity during the week ended August 21. Its analysis ranked the stock first among Solana treasury peers by trading volume relative to market capitalization. It also recorded the highest dollar trading volume on multiple days.
Those comparisons describe past price moves, not a fixed return multiple for future trading sessions. DFDV warns that debt, dilution, financing costs and changes in its market valuation can affect shareholder returns. If SOL declines, leverage can increase losses.
On August 26, DFDV launched State of Solana, a public research and data platform. It tracks market prices, staking yields, validator data, network health and ecosystem activity. Additional tools cover throughput, network uptime and cross-chain comparisons.
