XRP Ledger Wallets Join Privy in Ripple Push for AI Payments

  • Privy will support wallet creation, transaction signing and assets including XRP and RLUSD.
  • Server-side wallets will enable AI agents to hold funds and make x402 payments.
  • Policy controls and gas sponsorship are planned additions to the integration.

Ripple and Stripe-owned Privy are bringing XRP Ledger wallets to applications through a partnership announced on October 13. The integration will let developers create wallets, manage transactions and support XRP, RLUSD and other network assets. It also targets AI agents that hold funds and pay for services, expanding the company’s work on automated commerce.

XRP Ledger wallets bring embedded payments into apps

Privy’s announcement says developers can create and manage accounts programmatically and sign transactions using its infrastructure. That reduces the wallet infrastructure businesses need to build themselves.

Embedded wallets sit inside an application, allowing customers to use payment features without connecting a separate crypto wallet. For fintech companies, the arrangement could simplify access to stablecoin services within existing products.

Users of XRP Ledger wallets will retain the option to export private keys and seed phrases. Privy presents that feature as a way to preserve wallet portability when customers move to another service.

Privy CEO Henri Stern highlighted XRPL’s payments focus, while RippleX executive Markus Infanger emphasized settlement speed and low transaction costs. Their comments describe the infrastructure’s intended benefits rather than proving commercial adoption in specific applications.

Stripe acquired Privy in 2025, although the wallet provider continues operating independently. The partnership adds XRPL support as Stripe broadens its stablecoin and crypto infrastructure business.

AI agent payments add x402 support and planned controls

Beyond consumer accounts, XRP Ledger wallets will support server-side applications that let software agents hold and transfer funds. Privy says developers will also be able to enable x402 payments.

The protocol supports payments for online services, including transactions initiated by software. For example, an agent could pay for data access as part of completing an assigned task.

The integration gives developers payment tools; it does not establish that every agent can spend without user authorization. Spending permissions depend on how the application is configured.

Privy plans to expand XRP Ledger wallets with policy controls and gas sponsorship over time. Policy controls would help developers govern transactions, while gas sponsorship would let applications cover users’ network fees.
