Strategy Bitcoin Holdings Remain Unchanged as MSTR Sales Rise
Strategy Bitcoin Holdings remained unchanged at 840,447 BTC last week, according to an SEC 8-K filing submitted Monday. The company sold 3,458,866 MSTR shares for $333.7 million. Bitcoin traded near $63,500 after the filing, leaving the holdings worth about $53.4 billion.
The company used $52.4 million to fund STRC preferred dividends. Another $132.2 million funded STRC repurchases. The remaining $149.1 million increased Strategy’s dollar reserve to $4.8 billion.
The SEC 8-K filing confirmed Strategy made no Bitcoin purchases or sales between August 10 and August 16. This marks a pause after several recent disposals supported the company’s capital strategy.
Strategy Bitcoin Holdings Face a $9.9B Paper Shortfall
The company acquired its 840,447 BTC for approximately $63.36 billion. That includes fees and expenses, with an average purchase price of $75,385 per Bitcoin. At current prices, the position carries an unrealized shortfall of roughly $9.9 billion.
The latest Bitcoin treasury strategy reflects a stronger focus on liquidity. Strategy’s dollar reserve is designed to support preferred dividends and interest payments. The company has also authorized programs for preferred security and common stock repurchases.
Strategy repurchased about 1.39 million STRC shares for $132.2 million last week. Around $653 million remains under its $1 billion Digital Credit Securities Repurchase Program.
The company also faces potential changes to its index exposure. MSCI is considering new rules for companies classified as non-operating businesses. A May 2026 simulation showed Strategy could be removed from certain MSCI indexes.
Meanwhile, Strategy’s corporate Bitcoin treasury remains the largest among public companies. Its holdings equal roughly 4% of Bitcoin’s maximum 21 million supply.
