- The partnership targets stablecoin distribution and tokenized securities in South Korea.
- No commercial deployment date, contract value or newly issued stablecoin was announced.
Chainlink has partnered with LG CNS to develop digital asset infrastructure for South Korean financial institutions. Announced October 22, the agreement targets stablecoin distribution, tokenized securities and connections between blockchain networks. The companies describe a $68 billion domestic digital asset market, while outlining technical work intended to help institutions connect blockchain services with existing financial systems.
Chainlink brings data and cross-chain tools to LG CNS
LG CNS, the AI transformation and IT services arm of LG Group, plans to incorporate the oracle platform into its solutions. The integration covers external data, communication between blockchains and tools that coordinate transactions across systems.
These capabilities address practical needs for institutions developing tokenized financial products. Smart contracts require reliable information, while assets moving between networks need compatible messaging and controls.
Chainlink and LG CNS will also collaborate on technical standards for the Korean market. Their stated priorities include improving interoperability and supporting infrastructure designed for regulated digital assets.
The announcement identifies more than 11 million eligible users as part of the market opportunity. That figure describes potential reach, rather than customers already using services created through the partnership.
Hongkeun Kim, who leads the digital business division at LG CNS, said the collaboration aims to accelerate tokenized securities adoption. He also highlighted the potential for Korean financial infrastructure to expand internationally.
Chainlink partnership builds on institutional infrastructure
LG CNS already serves as lead contractor for Project Hangang, the Bank of Korea’s digital currency initiative. According to the announcement, its first phase involved approximately 80,000 customers across seven banks.
That experience gives the company an established role in connecting banks with digital currency systems. However, the partnership announcement does not confirm that the central bank has selected the oracle platform for Project Hangang.
Chainlink Labs executive Johann Eid described the agreement as groundwork for moving tokenized money across institutional systems and networks. The companies did not disclose contract value, expected transaction volumes or a commercial deployment date.
The release also did not identify a newly issued won stablecoin or name banks launching products under the agreement.
