- The proposed collaboration covers stablecoin transfers, corporate treasury and GIWA expansion.
- The companies have not announced supported stablecoins, pricing or a launch date.
- GIWA-based services could gain overseas access through shared infrastructure and partner networks.
MoonPay is exploring a strategic collaboration with Dunamu, the operator of South Korean crypto exchange Upbit, on digital financial infrastructure. The proposed work covers stablecoin payments, corporate treasury operations and international access to Dunamu’s GIWA blockchain. The announcement outlines areas for joint assessment, rather than confirming a live payment service, customer rollout or completed technical integration.
MoonPay and Dunamu assess payments and corporate treasury
The October 20 release identifies international payments and fund transfers as an initial focus. The companies intend to examine how their networks and technology could support new financial services using stablecoins.
Corporate finance forms a separate part of the proposed collaboration. Both firms will assess ways digital assets could support treasury operations, including how businesses manage and move funds across markets.
Bugeon Lee, MoonPay’s head of APAC, said stablecoin infrastructure needs to serve practical business operations alongside international transfers. He linked that ambition to combining Dunamu’s blockchain capabilities with an established global financial network.
The announcement does not name supported stablecoins, participating corporate customers or a launch date. It also leaves pricing, custody arrangements and settlement terms unspecified, limiting what businesses can assess about any eventual offering.
MoonPay network could broaden overseas access to GIWA
The companies also want to improve international access to GIWA-based services and digital assets. Their proposed approach connects global distribution and partner relationships with Dunamu’s blockchain infrastructure.
GIWA is an Ethereum Layer 2 built using the OP Stack. In May, Optimism announced a planned partnership under its Self-Managed OP Enterprise framework, intended to give Dunamu operational control.
That background helps explain the collaboration’s distribution focus: building a network and attracting overseas users are separate tasks. The release describes an effort to connect those capabilities, without confirming a completed integration or measurable adoption gains.
For MoonPay, the proposal extends its work on infrastructure connecting conventional finance with digital assets. Dunamu brings exchange operations and its developing blockchain ecosystem to the discussions.
The companies plan further technical and commercial assessments across payments, treasury management and GIWA expansion. Financial terms were not disclosed in the announcement.
